Quinn Signs Bill To Ban Micro-beads

(Chicago, IL) -- Products made with micro-beads will soon be coming off the shelves in Illinois. Governor Quinn signed the bill which makes it illegal for companies to manufacture and sell soap, toothpaste, and other products that contain the synthetic plastic beads in Illinois. They have a few years to comply with the new law though; the products don't have to be removed from the shelves until 2019. Apparently the beads don't break down very well and end up polluting the state's waterways.
