Lawmaker Wants To Can Lottery Manager
(Springfield, IL) -- The Northstar Lottery Group isn't bringing in as much money as it promised when it took over the lottery system, and lawmakers aren't taking too kindly to that. State Rep Jack Franks says Illinois could snag hundreds of millions of dollars if the state cancels its contract with the private firm. Franks has long been a critic of the deal that had the state turn over control of the lottery. Northstar has been missing the sales mark for the past few years, and is once again telling the state it's going to be short by about 200-million dollars. Other lawmakers have chimed in on the issue, saying it's clear that Northstar isn't incapable of doing the job it promised to do.
