Body Found In Old School Center Identified

(Farmington, IL) -- Authorities in Fulton County have identified the body that was found in The Old School Center in Farmington nearly three weeks ago. The Fulton County Coroner says that the body is that of 35-year old Emmanuel Cervantes of West Lafayette, Indiana. Cervantes last had contact with his family on May 12th. Family members first learned that he was missing on May 29th. Cervantes' stepfather, Randall Venis received a call from the Fulton County Coroner's office on May 30th, raising suspicions that the remains were those of Cervantes. He was last seen walking away from Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe on May 14th, where he was believed to have been working. The fire at the older Farmington High School was reported at about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 15th. An autopsy performed after the discovery of the body revealed that he died from smoke inhalation. There was no evidence found from the autopsy of any stab wounds, fractures or even gunshot wounds. Authorities say that there was evidence found at the fire site of breaking and entering. The family is waiting to have the remains cremated while they decide whether to have a second autopsy performed.
