Canton Teen Facing Drug Charges (Canton, IL) -- A Canton teen is facing drug charges after being arrested last week in Canton. Police say they observed a vehicle that was northbound on North Main at Lakeland Drive with only having one working head light on Thursday morning at about 3:20. Officers did conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle on North Main at Harvester Street. Fulton County Sherriff’s Deputies brought in their K-9 unit, Bolo, who alerted on the vehicle. Sheriff's officers found 1.5 grams of suspected pot on the 16-year old juvenile. They also located a glass hitter pipe used to smoke cannabis in the console of the car. The teen was taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis under 2.5 grams and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. He was then released to the custody of a parent. Two Arrested After Police Respond To East Elm Street Apartments (Canton, IL) -- Two people are facing charges after being arrested after police went to the apartments located on East Elm Street. Officers say they arrested 68-year old Lawanda L. Fromm of Canton on a charge of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. She was arrested and taken to the Fulton County Fulton County Courthouse to appear before a judge on Wednesday morning at about 9:20. She was given a June Fulton County Court date in Lewistown and was released on her own recognizance. Police then returned to the apartment and met with a man who was found to be living at the apartment as a caregiver to Fromm. A investigation found that the man, identified as 27-hyear old Jared L. Williams was a registered sex offender and because of staying with Fromm and another person a majority of time, violated the sex offender registration law by not registering the two addresses as secondary residences. Williams was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed. He was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. Marquette Man Arrested After Attempted Robbery In Pekin (Peoria, IL) -- Authorities in Pekin arrested a Marquette Heights man last week in connection with the attempted robbery of a gas station. Pekin police say the attempted robbery occurred earlier this month at the Citgo Gas Station on Court Street. Arrested was 47-year old Michael McClanahan. He was arrested on Friday afternoon and formally charged on Sunday. McClannahan has been released from jail after posting a $1,500 cash bond. Car Catches On Fire In Peoria (Peoria, IL) -- Occupants in a vehicle on War Memorial Drive had a scary moment on Friday. Two women were inside the vehicle when it suddenly lost its power steering and then ended up on a curb. One of the women got out of the vehicle and noticed a fire on the underside of the car. It took firefighters from Peoria about fifteen minutes to put it out. The two women were not injured. Judge Faces Further Disciplinary Action (LaSalle County, IL) -- A judge in LaSalle County is facing disciplinary action. The Illinois Courts Commission could choose to reprimand Joe Hettel, suspend him without pay, or even remove him from the bench. He pleaded guilty to drunk driving back in March. He's already paid a two-thousand-dollar fine and is serving a two-year-stint on court supervision. But the Judicial Inquiry Board says Hettel should be held to a higher standard of conduct because of his position.
