Champaign Man Dies In Parachute Demonstration
(Champaign, IL) -- A Champaign man has been killed while taking part in a demonstration parachute jump in Oklahoma that was intended to honor World War Two paratroopers. Sixty-nine-year-old Jim Yost, a retired U.S. Army captain, was an experienced jumper, but was killed when his chute malfunctioned during the demonstration earlier this week in Frederick, Oklahoma. Yost, a funeral director, was a paratrooper during the Vietnam War and had 36 active duty jumps and ten with the demonstration team.
