Every Metropolitan Area In Illinois Sees Gains On Job Front
(Springfield, IL) -- Every metropolitan area in Illinois is seeing gains on the jobs front. The Decatur area saw the biggest improvement between June 2013 and June 2014. Their unemployment rate dropped from 12-and-a-half percent to nine-point-two-percent. City leaders say a large chunk of the job growth can be attributed to a new Midwest inland port. Three Class-One rail providers meet in the yard, which gives them access to destinations across the globe. Several manufacturing firms reportedly have their eyes on Decatur and could be making major investments into the city in the near future. That could only mean good news for the city's economy. . Peoria's unemployment for June of this year is at 7.3-percent, thats down from 9.2-percent for the same time in 2013.
