Crops Still Looking Good In Illinois

(Undated) -- Soil moisture and crop conditions have declined slightly according to the weekly crop report. State Crop Statitician Mark Schleusner says while crops are still ahead of the five year average, they could use a little rain. 81-percent of the corn crop is rated good to excellent condition, with 55 percent in the dough stage and one percent in the dent stage. Average stateside topsoil moisture is now rated at three percent very short, 23 percent short, 70 percent adequate and four percent surplus.
