Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man was arrested and is facing drug related charges following a traffic stop over the weekend in Canton. Police say the stop occurred in the 800 block of North Main Street after they received an erratic driving complaint about a vehicle located in the area of 11th Avenue and Ash Street. After making the stop, police identified the man as 22-year old Roque D. Moreno. While investigating the matter, police located a hitter pipe that was inside the vehicle and is used to smoke pot. Police say they released Moreno at the scene on a city ordinance citation for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Moreno was given an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.
Peoria Teen Facing Several Charges (Canton, IL) -- A Peoria teen is facing several charges after a traffic stop that took place in Canton this past weekend. Canton police say they made the stop near the intersection of Hickory and Avenue D Sunday morning at just after 3. The officer making the stop says that when he approached the vehicle, no one was sitting in the driver's seat and that it appeared that a female had jumped from the front driver side to the back seat. That person was identified as 19-year old Daniel J. Hartman. During their investigation, officers located a glass jar containing a small amount of pot. Hartman was also found to be wanted on a 2014 Fulton County Misdemeanor Warrant for defrauding an innkeeper. She also did not have a valid driver's license. Police arrested her and took her to the Canton Police Department where she was processed for the warrant as well as the charges of driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license, improper lane usage as well as unlawful possession of cannabis. Hartman posted a $200 cash bond and a $20 processing fee before being released with a October Fulton County Court date.
Woman Charged For Riding Scooter Without License (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman is facing charges after she was caught riding a scooter without a valid license. Police say the incident happened Monday night at just after 8. Authorities say they observed two scooters that were southbound on 7th Avenue with one being driven by 31-year old Ashley M. Belles. Authorities made the traffic stop at Liberty and 7th Avenue. During their investigation, Belles was found to not have a valid driver's license. She was given a notice to appear and released at the scene. Belles has an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.
