Police Make Battery Arrest (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after he allegedly struck a man inside a store located on North 5th Avenue. Canton police say they were dispatched to Casey's General Store Thursday morning at about 1:30 to a disturbance. The victim, a 30-year old Canton male, told police that 25-year old Joshua V. Decker had entered the store and then punched him from behind in the neck. Decker was later located at 411 East Chestnut Street and arrested. He was taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed on a battery charge. Decker was given a notice to appear and released with an October Fulton County Court date. Warrant Arrest Made (Canton, IL) -- A Creve Couer man was arrested after he was found to be wanted on a valid warrant. Canton police say they responded to a suspicious vehicle report at the Casey's General Store located on North Main Street near Canton High School Wednesday morning at just before 5. Officers say that when they arrived they found that the hood of the vehicle was up and that two men with the vehicle were having car problems. During their investigation, police found that one of the men, identified as 20-year old George R. Pomeroy, was wanted on a 2014 Tazewell County Warrant. Pomeroy was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed on the warrant. He was unable to post bond and Pomeroy was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. Man Charged In Davenport Murder Case (Davenport, IA) -- A man is being held in Illinois on charges connected with a Davenport murder. Police say Gary Michael Fortune is accused of stabbing both Jack and Betty Simmons. Betty died at the scene while Jack is recovering at a local hospital. Fortune was arrested Tuesday night in Reynolds, Illinois. He is waiting to be extradited back to Scott County. Bloomington Limo Driver Charged With DUI (Bloomington, IL) -- A man who works for a limo company in Bloomington is free on bond after being accused of driving drunk. Police say 32-year-old Stephen McKenna has been charged with two counts of aggravated DUI. His blood alcohol level was point-175. McKenna is expected back in court on Friday. Jerseyville Man Guilty Of Attempted Sex Trafficking (Jerseyville, IL) -- A Jerseyville man could spend the rest of his life behind bars for trying to have sex with a child. Timothy Griesemer was found guilty of attempted sex trafficking and attempted enticement of a minor. The case began last October when he sent a text message to a female acquaintance indicating he was looking for a minor child. The woman reported him to authorities and a few days later, Griesemer exchanged dozens of text messages with undercover agents asking if they could set up a meeting with a kid. He was taken into custody when he showed up at an apartment complex thinking he was about to meet with a minor.
