Head Of Anti-Violence Program To Testify At Hearing

(Chicago, IL) -- The former head of Governor Quinn's failed anti-violence program will testify before a legislative committee. Barbara Shaw's attorney says she won't plead the 5th to any of the questions that lawmakers have. Shaw was heading the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority back in 2010 when Quinn pumped 55-million dollars into high crime neighborhoods in Chicago, hoping to reduce violence just before the election. An audit reveals Quinn rushed to put the program together and that grantees kept poor financial records. A panel of lawmakers will be questioning Shaw and other witnesses next week about what went wrong and where any missing money may be.
