Education Funding Bill Won't Get Vote
(Springfield, IL) -- State reps are being briefed on the details of a plan that will revamp school funding, even though it's not going to be called for a vote. Representative Linda Chapa LaVia says she has no intentions of bringing the bill to the floor before new lawmakers are sworn in. The controversial plan would divvy up state monies based on need, making sure poor students have the resources they need. But doing that will take money away from more affluent school districts, which some say will lead to higher property taxes.
